Anyway to get those pictures? By the way I now use a back up disk.

If drive is still aok then take aprt the old damage laptop carefully
REmove it hard drive .
Then buy a external laptop hard drive usb case and install that drive in side it as a slave device then connect it to new laptop then retrieve all personal data

Some of the above suggestions work if you know a lot about computers only, and if your hard disk (C: disk) wasn't damaged, which it might have been. There are some people who started a business, I saw it on the Discovery Channel, they have like 500 stores nationwide. They will go through your hard disk and retrieve what you want very carefully and charge only a small fee.

If the Hard Drive on your old computer isn't fried as well, you can buy an External Hard Drive Case. Remove the old hard drive from the burnt beast and install it into the case and hope for the best.

Hi. Connect the drive from the zapped machine to another machine (PC) and switch the rear jumper to SL. Boot the PC and the drive should show up in "My Computer". If so copy the files you want to save. If not there are file recovery businesses but they are costly.

if it's been struck by lightning, it must be fried. You can try retrieving it though...good luck.
