Whether I'm really knowledgeable about something or not, I think I come across as overconfident and full of too much content. What can I do to take a lower profile? How can I communicate better with people so that I can be knowledgeable, yet popular, like Ben Franklin was?

Realize that you are a good, valuable, worthwhile, lovable person whether you know more than those around your or not. You worth does not come from "knowing" but from being a good person who speaks with knowledge and thought as opposed to speaking with speed and volume.

You've got the first step, you REALIZE your faults. A lot of people don't. Maybe try asking questions more, and listening. Even if you already know the answer. This makes people WANT to be near you. Even if you have an opinion, it's ok to keep it to yourself sometimes. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Try to soften your advice. Say, you know I think I read something about that and say what you "read" and then say, but I don't remember where I read it and don't know if it's really true. (unless you've actually seen what you are talking about). Or sometimes just say I don't know the answer to that or I'm not sure............

what i think that you should do is that you should just think about what your going to say before you say it. like just think if its' really nessisary for your input. and just don't appear like your better than the person who you are giving adivice to. just lay low key.
sorry if that sounded harsh and i'm sure you dont do it on purpose. (i do it too but luckily people have finally accpeted that its just how i am)
