You've already answered your own question. It's just human nature to be curious. Our brain wants to figure things out instead of just accepting things as they are. As human beings, we require constant stimulation and what better way to be stimulated than trying to figure things out? (Well, there are other ways, but you get my drift.)

I think it is in our genes and I think curiosity was the main reason for the survival and development of the human species..
