go on wifi then go to confirm friend code and you`ll see your firend code and once you know your friend code give it to other people and let them add you and add the friend code of whoever added you back and then go to firends and search in firends at the same time,just in case you don`t know how to play online go to nintendowifi.com,and i wouldn`t reccomend playing online if you didn`t know how to snake

To play with your friends online, first make sure your DS can connect to Nintendo WFC via a wireless connection. Then, you have to register your friends' friend codes in your game. (Nintendo WFC > Friend Code > Register Friend Code) Once you have them all entered (all players have to have the other players registered in order to play against the online), to play them online, click on Nintendo WFC, then Nintendo WFC Match. The DS will then connect and give you several play options (play with friends, regional, world wide). Regional and Worldwide are random match-ups, while the Friends mode will let you play with your registered friends. If you want to play with your friends in the same room, the friend codes are not needed. Just use Multiplayer mode.

It's like a friend ID. You register your friend's code and then when they're on wi-fi (multiplayer) you can locate them and play.
