I have been constipated pretty much my entire pregnancy. I am over 17 weeks along. If you want to try something natural, eat some pasta. It really works for me. When I suffer from constipation and eat pasta I have a bowel movement within 3 hours and its a good source of the carbs you need while pregnant

You can reverse the effects of constipation by drinking TONS of water and I do mean TONS of water. it is okay to take things like Dulcolax to aid in the relief of constipation, but check with your doctor first.

This constipation thing can last up until you have your baby. I had the same problem as you and trust me, it goes away. You just have to make sure you drink lots of water. It normally takes a day or two for the water to kick in and do what it is supposed to do, but it works.

Thats a tough one. It could be better once you have passed your first trimester, but then again its not always true. Add a teaspoon of Karo to a drink. Or even try eating something like Triscuits. They help alot. The more dairy you consume, the worse constipation is & will be.
Its one of the many downsides of pregnancy! But its gonna all be worth it in the end!
Best of Luck & Congrats to You!!!

During my past two pregnancies I suffered from constipation throughout both of them- the best way to ease it is to drink plenty of water and incorporate plenty of fiber into your daily diet. I have brought some "fiber one" snack bars- I eat one on the way to work, I also brought sunsweet prunes and snack on them throughout the day- in addition there is a fruit smoothie that is 100% juice called "naked juice" you can find it in the produce section in you local store- try the "blue machine" one it has fiber and a pound of fruit in each bottle. Last but not least elevate your feet while trying to have a BM- I use my children's step stool- weird- but it helps! Good Luck

Do not use laxatives. Just drink more water and a plenty of fiber to your diet. Why complicate things? Try natural methods before you even bother to use medications to cure common pregnancy discomforts. As a last resort a stool softener or suppository might work, but consult your doctor first.

constipaiton is very common in pregnancy, for some it is the entire time. Look into your diet to make sure you are getting enough fiber and drinking enough water. Sometimes thats all it takes is a little change in your diet. Also you can talk to your dr for any reccomendations.

You are allowed senokot as they are natural laxatives, I used them for the first 20 wks on and off as I had it bad! And I'm going in to be induced on tuesday morning and will be taking two tonight and two tomorrow night!!
Although one is enough at your stage, and you will only need one a week as they get you going again after just one dose!

usually about now your body starts going into another phase of its pregnancy cycle so it really shouldnt be too much longer, try eating prunes or any other fruit you like to make it a little easier when you do go. Good luck x

i was told that some prenatals will cause you to become constipated, so you could;if you want to; talk to your dr. about going on childrens chewable vitamins, and you would have to take them 2 times a day every day, but you might then become unconstipated, but i'm not sure i would talk to your dr about doing this before you do though! good luck i hope this helps! god bless
