Not sure if i should just fix the one bad head gasket or both. Has any one had prob w/a steam coming out of the exhaust. I havent figured out which one is bad yet. But when i do, i'm not sure if its best to just fix the bad one and leave the other one alone. 3.8 6cyl engine.

Do them both, the 3.8L V6 had lots of head gasket issues. The common failure points are on cylinders #3 and #4. Go to your local Ford dealer parts department and order part number F5PZ-6051-BB, which includes BOTH updated and improved head gaskets, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and new cylinder head bolts.

Just did a chevy 350 before Christmas. Head gasket was blown through between 1 & 3. Coolant in the oil, also steaming while running.
Did a compression test, didn't take long to figure which cylinder was giving trouble. The spark plug was removed from #3, the coolant drained out. Once the head was removed & I saw the condition of the gasket, the decision was easy, replace the other side as well, not to mention the head was cracked between 1 & 3.

The antifreeze reservoir probably merely have been given contaminated and desires to be flushed out. in case you had this "milky" substance on your engine oil, then you certainly must be frightened as this is an indication which you have blown a head gasket.

absolutely do them both, while you are at it make sure your heads are straight. I work in a rebuild shop and the
heads generally are high in the center. and look on the outside edge of the head on the spark plug side of the head, there is a corner along the head that leaks to the outside sometimes.........be cheap, do it right the first time
