Uh don't get me started on this. The men and women who serve for our freedom have families at home who worry endlessly and miss them. I wish so badly they'd recieve more support. I think we all need to see images like this instead of the constant criticism our our president and troops. Well, I'm finished.

Actually, the news shows pictures or tells stories that reflect positively on U.S. Soldiers all the time. I've put some in my sources, below.

What has happened is that the positive stories have no controversy, or tension to them, so there's little to no reason to repeat them or debate them. Which means that we hear and see everything that is surrounded in controversy, and that's what we remember.

Really, it's not the fault of the news. This is simply what people do all the time. It is known to most people as 'suspense', and writers/storytellers have been using it since storytelling first began. People just don't want to focus their attention on soldiers helping Iraqi children. Now, if you add in a sinister antagonist who is trying to stop the soldiers from helping the children, then the story becomes more interesting.

Also, some of the pictures are nice, but there is little to no story behind them. Another reason is because the picture is of something people already know, or should already know.

Some of the pictures are simply artistic or cute. A good example would be the soldier petting the kitten. Very cute. Not worthy of the news. What would the story be? Soldier likes kitten? Film at eleven? It does make an interesting human interest piece, but that would fall into a magazine, and not the news or in a newspaper.

I actually remember the first two pictures being shown in the news, but I can't for the life of me remember where.

So, in answer to your question, they are shown, but people just do not remember them very well. So we end up wondering why there are never any positive stories around.

The news media is all about sensationalism. If it doesn't stir up bad feelings or bring controversy to the table it must not be worth reporting. Once the media starts to lean in one direction on an issue, there is no way they can step backwards and show the other side of a story.

Most of all, good news is worse than no news to the media. But, I sure wish more of these pictures could make it into the press.

American news is horrible, watch BBC. American news is dictated by who is advertising and what makes more money, not on the important facts.

They do not reflect the views of the Democrats and the sensationalist media controlling our news outlets.

Because that would be too positive for our liberal media and make it look like the U.S. actually does good.
