although it is easier for boys, this is the easiest time in your life, so go for it now. It won't get any easier.
Here is a shortened version of a basic complete system I came up with for my clients to help with weight loss along with some basic understanding:
Eat six square meals a day, smaller to the proportion you would eat normally so your eating the same amount or just slightly higher or lower. This opts to obtaining the most metabolic structure for processing for into usable substances rather than sitting in your stomach and being converted to fat.
Watch what you put in and on your food and make sure what you are eating is organic. No added salts, sugar, no high fructose corn syrup (converts directly to fat instead of being used for energy as regular sugar). No MSG's (stops digestion) the more you do these things the better. I was eating at McDonalds almost every day for lunch and still lost because of the rest of this.
Eat fresh grape fruit (not juice) before each meal and Oolong tea or Yerba mate (green teat can be supplemented but with less effect) four times a day.
Run first thing in the morning when glycogen is at its lowest stores, before you drink or eat anything. Start the day with 10 oz. of room temp. Distilled water. Drink distilled water throughout the day (distilled water does not have chlorine or fluoride of which shuts down digestion and is bad for electrolyte balance and parasite defense.)
Eat your largest meal with most fat content before the most active part of your day, (usually morning before work, unless at an office job).
Don't eat two hours before bed. Consume fax seed oil and caisine protein directly before sleep. (Caisine is the slower digestive protein that will last all night to heal from the day. Found in nuts, peanut butter, certain protein shakes, or 4 oz. fat free milk would work as well)
Low carb. Protein before work out, high carb snack or drink while working out and sugar protein directly after (insulin receptors are creating an anabolic effect for first 20 minutes after a hard workout and will use sugar as a healing regiment.
You may also want to do some cardio within the first 29 minute after eating to burn off calories that you just ate.
These are the basics without going into a book about the body and functions of anabolic, catabolic and metabolic structures and how each receptor and hormonal diversities consolidate with each other.
I'm sure you have also heard muscle burns fat, which is true, but muscle also adds pounds which is why most dieting structures don't say to gain muscle and they are actually having you lose muscle while losing the fat, because they care about you seeing the results so you'll stick to it. Which is good for people who need to see the results, but not for those who can wait, cause if you build muscle first, the fat will shed off allot quicker and you'll get toned instead of just thin. How ever the process will take longer, but will be healthier.
If you would like a more personalized approach a lot more info would be needed. A lot on the best way to achieve your goal is on a psychological level of what you can handle and what you need to see to keep yourself motivated. Which is why a good personal trainer that knows what they're doing and that can really get in side your head would be helpful. It's too bad there aren't many around.

Actually that's a time of one's life when it's probably the easiest...our metabolisms slow as we age so in our teen years they are zooming along at a faster rate than they will when we are adults...
Perhaps those that have a tough time losing weight do so because they don't eat right or exercise enough. Even a fast metabolism can only handle so many calories per day before the eating gets ahead of the calorie burning.

Because teens are going through natural hormonal changes while moving toward adulthood. These changes cause weight gain but the weight gain goes away as they age. There's a lot of concern about nothing when it comes to teenage weight.

Do not go mad on the exercise front. That's a common mistake. You need to start out slow and easy. And let this guy be motivation for you to get in shape, but realize this is going to be a life long effort. If your doing it right, you'll never want to quit anyway! So think long term and don't worry so much about boys, at your age they'll come and go like cheap sunglasses. This applies to most anyone wanting to Lose or Gain Weight. The Most Important Thing You Must Understand is you need to keep your program ENJOYABLE! If your brain or body find it too painful, no matter how strongly your mind is committed to working the program, eventually, (usually less than 6 weeks) your brain will make you quit! It won't tolerate pain.At the same time it's so very important that you allow your body and brain time to adjust to your new training. From tendons being stretched to complicated metabolic issues, to learning proper form, pace and routines your brain and body need at least 6 weeks to line up to really get things going. Don't give much credit to the scale when first starting, it's normal to retain more fluids, it's your body's way of being ready for the next workout. Don't micro-manage your calories either. Sensible wholesome meals, the quality of the calories is more important than the quantity. Your diet should be ENJOYABLE too, and something you can develop and maintain as a habit. Workout at your own pace, which in the beginning should be slower, focus more on how you move ( your form) as it's important to how your body will shape up and that you don't get injured. Just about any exercise is good and will work, walking, jogging, running, cycling but my favorite and number one choice for losing or gaining weight is weightlifting aka bodybuilding. If your a girl, don't worry that you'll get manly muscles, the average steriod-free female builds only a small amount of muscle each year. But that muscle is awesome! Because not only does it burn calories while your working and using them, and while they are repairing and replenishing themselves, but 24/ 7 they consume calories just to stay alive! Just try not to miss a single day of working out for the first 6 months without a real good reason, otherwise slacking off can become the habit. Other than taking your two scheduled days off per week. Rest is important, so get to bed at a decent time as well. Make sure you drink plenty of water everyday. Learn to drink water warm, so you can have it anytime/anywhere. Other than keeping it sensible and enjoyable, remember all the benefits you'll get from exercising and a decent diet. You'll sleep better, have better energy, breathing, moods, concentration, endurance, strength, self-confidence, and so much more. It's really the closest thing to magical powers each human has, so don't miss out! 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week is ideal, but by all means start with less if need be, again keeping it enjoyable is everything! Just start easy, give your body time to start providing you additional energy, keep learning more as you go, and before you know it, you'll have the body you've always wanted, with the loads of extra benefits I pointed out.

Stress and menestration, a deadly combination that causes
all sorts of food cravings, that are usually fatting like chocolate
candy or fried foods, especially if they also suffer from pms.
It can also maintain it self in a pattern, like eating from tension
or stress, and then gaining weight, then becoming stressed out over the weight gain and of course EATING to reduce stress.

Teen girls should not lose weight!!! When you are a teen, you are at your growth spirt and you should be growing, not trying to lose weight. Lose weight when your older but right now you have to eat so you can get taller!!!
Do not try and lose weight!!!
Maybe a better answer to your question that isn't as harsh would be that maybe teen girls are just not meant to lose weight, I mean, your not fully grown yet and your body needs the food to survive!!!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

im also a teen girl... heres what works well for me:
>exercise as much as you can. even stupid little stuff, like carrying the groceries in, vacuuming, running up and down your stairs a few times, anything at all. join a sport or something too... i do track and field.
>instead of killing yourself with a diet that eliminates EVERYTHING you eat, like ice cream and potato chips, go everyother day of eating what you like. For example, eat healthy on monday, and on tuesday eat what you normally eat. Eat healthy wednesday, then eat what you normally eat on thursday. It helps becuase it just reduces fat. diets that eliminate what you like make it so u end up gorging yourself.
> eat six small meals instead of three big ones. breakfast: granola bar or something ((yes, eat breakfast.)) 10:30 : stuff your face with cheese crackers or something at your locker in between classes. lunch: yogurt, etc. w/e.. after school: fruit, etc. dinner: something healthy but still pretty light, like sandwiches, etc... just dont gorge yourself. dessert or w/e, spaced a few hours after dinner, nuts or frozen yogurt, etc. these are ideas for your "healthy days". eating the small meals helps because it speeds up your metabolism.
>lift weights. building muscle helps to tone your body. dont do the stupid little 2 pound dumbells, go for the ten pounders or w/e u can handle. do 3 sets of 8 reps of the highest weight u can do. (that means find out what weight you can lift 8 times in a row, but not much more, three times in a row with breaks in between). work on your abs... and instead of doing a million crunches in a row try doing different styles of crunches... like side to side and "oblite" or w/e. it helps alot.
good luck! i hope you lose the weight! just dont starve yourself or become bulemic. anorexia slows down the metabolism and bulemia doesnt actually work -- you still get all of the calories you ate, but you just end up being hungry becuase u just threw up the food. plus, throwing up is icky and burns your throat and is bad for ur teeth. =]

It is harder for adults to lose weight. As you get older, your metabolism slows down.
If you have trouble losing weight, go to the doctor, to see if he/she can give you some suggestions, or rule out any metabolic (thyroid) problems.
