Is it true you need two stamps to send a card from California to Nevada? Because someone told me that. Or could it be because the envelope was a little heavy?

Depends on the size of the card. Postal rates for letters and cards within the USA are fixed. It doesn't matter how far it goes.

If the card is overweight or oversized then it will require extra postage. Check the postage for yourself at:

No, you don't need two stamps as a matter of course from Ca. to Nev. The postal service does not vary from state to state. The envelope must have been too heavy.

It's could be because the envelope is heavier than 1 ounce. Another reason could be the shape of your card. If the card is a square and not a rectangle, it will be more than one stamp.

The mail process is based upon weight of a parcel to determine how much it will cost to send and to where it is going.
