no I don't use Adequan i didn't know of it until I went to yahoo and they had lots if information on it, it about degeneration of joint disease. It come in injectable form only and has to been given by a vet. I would go by the horses age , how the horse is been used, hard usage or just every now and then. as the horses age hard use break down many thing , if your gonna jump him i would think about giving him this around 9 years of age. but as always ask your vet first before trying anything

I have used Adequan, it requires a prescription from your vet, and it is an IM injection given every four days for usually 7 doses. Its about $400 for all 7 doses plus needles and syringes, it will be more if you need your vet to come out and give the shots. I found it to be very effective. I have used it on a 10 yr old eventer and a 19 yr old arthritic tennessee walker. The eventer just needed the one round, some rest, and a change of training plan, and an adjustment to his shoeing, the 19 yr old is now maintained with ground flax, and glucosamine and chondroitin (I found it just as effective and cheaper than cosequin) of course she is no longer shown but she is now 25 yrs old and still enjoys her day long trail rides.

I think Cosequine works better for joints, its really pricey though.
