I dont want to be mean to the poor guy, but I tried to write a story about abuse, becasue it was a popular write, and it was easy to think up ways to be abused, I can see how Dave could have done it.
I see where you are coming from. If the school knew about happened wiht Dave, they would have contacted the police. Its pretty ridiculous.

Only a fool would accept everything they read as truth. Remember James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces"? I don't doubt that Pelzer was abused as a child, but it wouldn't be surprising if his story wasn't entirely true. Memory isn't a flawless record, especially when it concerns traumatic events.
