When will the iPhone be released in Australia?

I was also wondering that if the American iPhone would work in Australia, if it was unlocked from Cingular's network or does would the American iPhone operate on different frequencies to Australia.

I don't think it would work, they're generally different frequencies.

I've seen questions like this a lot. I'm curious why not just wait a while... I plan to wait until the 2nd generation myself, it will be better and have more features, more solid. I don't need the FIRST one out.
