Sorry if I wasn't more specific! My diamond is a 1/2 Carat round pink with some inclusions. I took it to a jewler and it was tested and real and he just gave me an estimate of $1,000 to $1,200 (I only paid $180.00) Anyways I just had it set and then went on vacation! I don't know when or when but it has a slight scratcth where a visible inclusion is. I know it wasn't there when I bought it or after it was set cause I 've been examing it like crazy since I got it! Anyways I hope that helps since most of you told me it it fake and that diamonds don't scratch or chip.

Diamond can be chipped by a hard blow.

You might ask, “how can one chip a diamond, isn’t it the hardest substance on Earth?” Indeed, diamond is the hardest substance known to man, but it is not the toughest. Hardness refers to scratchability, nothing can scratch a diamond except another diamond. Toughness, however, refers to crushability - while you could never scratch a diamond with a big piece of steel, you could easily shatter it in a thousand pieces by hitting it with a hammer.

Actually, there is no easy way to scratch a diamond, even with another diamond. I tried to determine if a mineral was topaz once, by scratching is with corundum, and it took a lot of effort. Topaz is a Mohs Hardness Scale of 8 and corundum is 9. Since diamond is 10, it is 100 times harder and would take 100 times the amount of pressure I exerted on topaz to get it to scratch. If I had specialized equipment I could scratch a diamond with another diamond, but not by hand.

The easiest way to scratch a diamond accidentally is with another diamond.
If you've applied pressure to the diamond, you might get a fracture which might look like a scratch.
