MP44 was the german machine gun carried by infantry
Browning Automatic Rifle was the American machine gun.
Bren LMG was the British carried machine gun.
MG42 was the German mounted machine gun.
Vickers .50 was the main British mounted MG.
American mounted guns were the .30 caliber and the .50 caliber machine guns.
Some of the submachine guns were the Thompson, the Sten, the MP40 and the Grease Gun carried by American engineers.
They were all used to kill people obviously, but they were very effective in suppressing enemy troops and WWII was very different from WWI and all other previous wars because machine guns could simply mow down any thing in its range of fire... Thus, WWII had to employ small unit action, which is what is still being done today.
