black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Also, the plugs had black carbon or something all over them. I had to clean them to even get the car to start. I know that there is something wrong with the engine but i don't know what it is.. Does anyone have any idea what i can do to check and see what is wrong? The engine is full of oil but the gage shows no oil pressure.i drove the car here to Austin from Bryan,Tx, which is about 100 miles, if i wasn't getting any oil through the engine, the engine will run and does not over heat. I ran it for about 30 min. on Sunday but it smokes very badly. HELP.

Problem is in the Carburetor although you didn't specify which carburetor it has its either 1 of 2 things...

It most likely has either a Ford/Motorcraft 4bb or a Holley carb made for Ford/Motorcraft 4bbl...

becasue 2 bbls on Lincoln models this old are pretty rare...

Either the Power Valve in the carburetor is shot or the needle, seat and Float assembly are acting up.... If in this area most likely a bad float)

your unburned fuel (excessive fuel) shows up on spark plugs as dry sooty black if engine was running recently.... if it wouldn't start the plugs would be wet from gas..

No matter what take the carb and have it rebuilt by a carburetor specialist

It's running very rich and probably has a vacuum leak.
