TalkTalk is full of ****. I checked on their website and it stated that it wasn't available in my area - I LIVE IN LONDON!!!! There's no way they supply 70% of the UK if it's not available in London.
If you have Sky television, you can get free broadband through them. Free in the sense that you'd still pay the same amount for TV as you would with or without broadband.
Otherwise no, there's no such thing as free broadband.

Free broadband is only FREE when you take up another service with a particular company.
For example, Sky broadband is free, when you take up there Sky TV viewing package.
Most broadband providers are available in Central London, but have not been enabled for alot of the country.
Basically, other broadband companies rent BT lines and they need to be "unbundled", which is a drawn out process.
If your unsure on who can provide you with a broadband service then go to a comparison site where you can input your postcode and see what broadband services are available and what the cost of them will be!

Its a case of "you get what you pay for",ie free broadband does exist, however there is so much advertising, and other users that the bandwidth get used up very quickly, hence you will get a massive performance hit and end up frustrated.
Plus you will not get any support.Free broadband is just a way for someone to make lots of money by selling advertising space.

There is no free broadband. You pay for the other services the companies provide they make sure that they charge enough to cover the broadband service they provide.

When was the last time you got something for nothing? Truley?
As for the DSL not being available, it could be because there is old, outdated equipment used on that line still (as was my case). There was some type of coil used for noise suppression (or something like that).
