If you just bought the newest Gameboy system, you'd better buy one of the newer Pokemon games.
In my opinion, the old Red, Blue, Yellow, and to an extent, Gold and Silver were the best, because the modern barrage of Pokemon weren't newly invented.

The best Pokemon game for gameboy advance is emerald because Emerald has New features than sapphire and ruby. Plus it has Battle Frontier and all the facilities. So Emerald would be for you.

get fire red or leaf green. emerald, saphire and ruby are dissapointing. they are shorter and you can't get any of the classic pokemon like charizard or mewto in ruby/sapphire but you can in leaf green and the story goes on and on forever. its not a question of when the game ends, it's when you get sick of it, which will be never.
