Todays my due date but due to high blood pressure my Dr is inducing me tomorrow. Anyone out there been induced? Is it much different? All I've heard is that contractions may come harder, faster. I'm a little nervous about getting an epidural too, is it very painful?

i was induced with both kids. ask your doc to start you off on the drip slowly so your body can adjust to the forced labor. I never had an epidural. the contractions will come harder and faster if docs put too much of the drug in faster than your body can handle. since you are at your due date, your cervix is probably already soft and ready to dilate. how exciting!! i would do it all again. good luck to you! :)

I have only had one kid and i was induced after being 10 days late and i think that is the best way to go. and no they numm the area where thy do the epidural just make sure someone is talking to you while they are doing it. It really helps.

I prefer induction :) No second guessing whether or not its time to get to the hospital. The contractions aren't more painful they just progress more quickly and give you less time to adjust. I would stay away from the epidural. Try the intravenous drugs, they work wonders AND you don't have to let them stick a needle into your back!

Induction is diverse for each body. i have heard any such vast volume of horror memories & i ask your self what they're speaking about. I had a really short, straightforward exertions at the same time as i replaced into triggered. I had my son in a lot less that 3 hours and that i replaced into soreness-loose because I were given the epidural. What you may assume in getting an I.V. so one can get Pitocin on your equipment. they are going to also spoil your water and examine you oftentimes to work out once you're dialating. you may pick to get an epidural. except that, you'll basically sit down back and unfasten up until eventually its time to have the newborn!!

Labor is painful. All labor is painful. It is the equivalent of getting a charlie horse in your entire stomach, and they just keep getting closer together.
The epidural is a little uncomfortable when it is being inserted, but compared to the labor it is a piece of cake, and you will be glad you did it. It will actually stop the strong urge you have to grab the bottom lip of the baby's father, and pull it over his head!!!
You will do just fine. We are all nervous about labor, but when in it, we all deal with it just fine. Just keep reminding yourself of what you will have in the end. A beautiful new baby.

I was induced, the contractions do come fast and they hurt, but either way they hurt. As for the epidural i never had one, your body numbs itself and it is easier to work with the baby and your body if you can feel it, that is just my opinion.

being induced does tend to make your contractions harder and faster.. which in turn makes your labor shorter ( so there is a plus side)
the epi doesnt hurt as bad as the contractions but the relief it gives you is well worth the little poke of the needle
good luck and congrats!!

i was induced with my first son and i dotn recommend it cause it dropped his heart beat cause it was forcing the pregnancy along i would just ask if you could wait a few more weeks and see if you can go all natural
