I know people don't like stereotyping but it seems to me that WASPS are nicer than Italian-Americans. The nice mild-mannered guy or the sweet mild-mannered girl is usually a WASP. Italian-American guys tend to be loud and agressive while Italian-American girls run around with big nails and are loud and agressive as well. So why is this? And please don't say I'm generalizing!

The common denominator for these types is Christianity. That's where the similarity begins and ends.
WASPS control the important aspects of the American economy.
Italian Americans are hard workers and stereotyped in a negative way.... having hand gestures, loud and boisterous...and connected somewhat to organized crime.
WASPS come off as mild mannered and intellectual, but have a sinister side and cunning...will always rule and have upper hand.
Most C.E.O.'s are WASPS.

WASP is a social identity not a cultural identity. Just because you're white anglo-saxon and a protestant doesn't mean you're a WASP. WASP's tend to be wealthy, college educated, traditional, and mannerly. It's not good to generalize, either.

I'm Italian-American myself and I'm not as nice as most WASPs, but I don't mind being this way. It seems born in me, so when somebody's giving me a hard time, I am not nice.
Today somebody working at the bagel shop was rushing me, so I told them off. I feel better. I don't hold it up inside me, I let it out. I'm very expressive you could say.

I prefer Italian-Americans....they tell you what they feel in front of your face instead of behind your back. They are friendlier, funny as heck, and more passionate. I like wild-mannered men, don't get me wrong....but they are a bit too boring for my tastes.

i havent met too many italians, but yeah, i agree
certainly though, as some of the answerers above said, its a difference of culture (ie assertiveness is a good thing sometimes)

you can always count on that and keep your distance from the other tribes. we have a culture and a tradition to protect. friends and such are fine but you take care of your own kind. your tribe, lets call it.
