Keppler's Law of equal areas (or his 2nd Law) states that the line joining the planet to the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal intervals of time.

Hence to maintain an equal area in December, when the Earth is further away from the sun, the earth must move faster than it does in July, when it is close to the sun.

yah hes right, as the earth nears the sun, its orbit is near, therfore the orbit accelerates then in winter where the Earth's orbit is fater than the sun.
