I think Toni sounds better with Brooker, but if you are an only child with no other siblings to carry on your last name, I would definitely keep your maiden name.

personally I like Sage.
you do realize that there in many states there is no law that states the woman HAS to take her husbands last name?
also you could also use Sage in your business life and then Brooker in your personal.
it may sound a bit confusing but it isn't.
In some instances you could sign the hyphenated if you chose like on a mortgage.
check with someone at the SS office they will explain the state and US law.
congratulation on your upcoming nuptials

Call me old fashioned, but if he is your husband then you should take his name! Besides I think the name Toni Brooker has a lovely ring to it - celebrity style!!
Best Wishes...

This is an interesting question. Do you have a career and do you want children are two that come to mind. If you have kids how would you have a family with two different last names? What would the kids names be. My sister keeps her maiden name in her career field but uses her married name at home and all things dealing with the kids.

I like them both. If you come to have children though, you might want them to have the same surname as you AND your husband so maybe you should change your name to his. Or you and your husband could both be called Sage-Brooker - that's a fantastic name, makes you sound very hoi polloi!!

I think you should keep your own name. You'll be signing the register with your own name anyway. Doesn't the fact that you take marriage vows count for more than what your name will be? I don't think children attach huge importance to both of their parents having the same name as them, just that you're both there for them and a positive influence on them. If you needed any other reason to keep your own name, think of all the documents you won't have to change and anyway, your marriage certificate proves that you are married to one another and will be the important item later on - not the surname you happen to use. Of course I might be biased because I plan to keep my name after I marry in October.
