I got one of those old shower arms with a ball at the end. The new shower head i bought recently will not fit on this. I need to know how i can easily remove the existing shower arm?

most shower arms inc. older ones will unscrew off easily. If yours does, just remember to use white teflon tape on the threads before replacing the arm, to avoid leaking.

Just use a wrench and unscrew the shower arm counter clockwise, to install the new one use either teflon or any other thread sealer, to avoid scratching the chrome, insert a screwdriver in the open end of the new shower arm and use the screwdriver to tighten it, do not over tighten it's not under much pressure so one turn past hand tight should be enough.

The arm is probably screwed into an elbow inside the wall. You can unscrew it with a pipe wrench. The new pipe can be sealed with Teflon tape or pipe joint compound; I prefer the latter as getting tape to stay put while you are assembling the joint is a nuisance.

They sell adapters so it will fit, take as much of the shower head as you can to the hardware store and tell them what you need. I've done it. Be sure you know what make/model the old one is so they can be sure to get a right fit for you.
