I'm a high school senior who skipped the 11th grade and applied to UC Berkeley and UC Davis. My class rank is 7 and my current GPA is about 4.29. I scored a 1960 on the SAT, and a 690 on both the Math Level II and Biology (Molecular) Subject Tests. My major is Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Based on this information, how do you suspect I will do in UCB?

If you're asking how you'll do once you are admitted, I think you have a very good chance of doing well. The major pitfall I have seen with people who have had trouble at Berkeley is a lack of initiative - Berkeley is a very large place and no professor is going to hold your hand. If you need to learn something, you have to go and learn it - find the TA, go get 5 books, etc. If you want to pursue science after graduating, you need to actively ask professors to let you work in their research groups.

Hard to say, but if you're doing science courses, a 2.9-3.1 GPA is pretty realistic.

Did you take AP Bio or Chem? I could see you getting a slightly higher GPA in a science major if you got 5's on both those tests. Otherwise, your SAT scores don't exactly wow me. Not for a Berkeley student.

Your GPA is essentially meaningless.

If you are a California native, you have a great chance of being accepted. If not, your GPA and test scores seem high enough to me. To increase your chances, I would recommend taking the ACT. Many people skip out on it altogether, but then again most people actually perform better on ACT than SAT. I did so well on my ACT that I didn't even bother submitting my SAT scores.

Great chance of getting admitted to Davis. I think you also have a fair chance of Berkeley accepting you. If you took challenging classes, like AP/Honours and volunteered a lot then they will want you.

I think you will as long as you don't royally screw up any other part of your application. the bio departments are very competitive over there though but if you've done that well so far you should be fine.

Probably quite well if you set goals and work hard to achieve them. Good luck.
