Issue #1 for Romney appears to be a lack of awareness of who he is, but there are other challenges he'll have to overcome.
He will definitely struggle with a lot of voters because he changed his mind on abortion. For conservative voters, Romney presents a true test of religious bigotry. He's the only truly conservative candidate, has a proven track record in business and politics, and has the cleanest image and background of them all. But depending on which poll you read about, some 25-40% of voters say they will not vote for a Mormon that is qualified in all other ways.

I think Romney is much better than McCain or Guiliani, but those aren't the only Republicans running in '08. If you dig just a little deeper you will find Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo. Both of these guys are excellent candidates, and I would suggest anyone do their research before deciding on a candidate.
A reason he might not be a great president is the fact that he tends to not make up his mind on important issues. Don't get me wrong, I like this guy more than Guiliani or McCain, but there's more than those three.

Look at his track record. The guy is smart.
He saved the Salt Lake City Olympics, when it was $400 million behind, and brought in a $100 million profit, AFTER the $300 million spend on secruity. In fact, this was the first major event after 9-11, so secruity had to be tight, and it was.
He also saved the Mass. budget. Each year he was governor the budget was balanced, and he even brought a surplus to the state.
He is also married to his wife for over 20 years. McCain or Guiliani can't say the same thing.
Also, he is catching up in the polls. And at a fast rate.

Re: Mitt Romney:
PROS: Romney is against abortion & opposes same sex-marriage, and he's been aggressive in courting the Christian right. He's consulted with Falwell & Franklin Graham & is scheduled to deliver the graduation address at Robertson’s Regent University this spring.
CONS: Evangelicals are skeptical of Romney's Mormon faith, but it's his alleged flip-flops that could really hurt. In his 1994 Senate & 2002 gubernatorial bids, Romney supported abortion rights & gay rights, positions he reversed as he prepared for a White House run. Last week Sam Brownback's campaign questioned his credibility.

Romney is smart, in that he doesn't want to rise to the top too soon. It's hard to hold that position and there are still twenty months to go before election time.
Romney has a good political name, and he is kind of refreshing from a political point of view, the rest of the pack all seem to be part of a dog and pony show.
Romney truly has an excellant chance of winning the Republicans choice, and if that happens, I see know one on the other side of the aisle who can beat him .

As others have stated, he has been a success in everything he has done, whether it be business or government. He has been very clear about his life changing moments and changes of heart on things like abortion (and don't we all go through changes in life?). If people listen to him with an open mind I think he could do well.

Hmmmmmmmm......Well I am going to hand this one over to my sister because so far I have heard her say it the best: ( hold on her she comes)
Hi, Demons sister here, ok here it goes:
It has nothing to do with his ways of worship.
Mitt Romney is not even on my list, nor will he ever be considered by me. I am against the "Guest worker program", and he is for it. Plus Romney is not a mover and a shaker like Tancredo. Romney is a conformist, he is too afraid to take a stance against our Govt., he will never get my vote!
Thanks G, well I told you she said it best!

How do you know he's been faithful to his wife? He may simply be better at covering up his infedelities. People who believe that they know public figures personally seem very immature to me. I thought I knew that the Rolling Stones personafied the counter culture of the 60's and 70's. Now I understand that every single one of them were sons of wealthy Brits and Mick Jagger had a degree in finance.

Romney is good.
Ron Paul is better, but......
Fred Thompson is great, but.......
"Hucklebee" is great but......
No matter how great a candidate is, he MUST have supporters.
Watch Rudy & especially McCain, go down.
When it comes to politics, Mormans are just like othe Christians: divided.
Romney is a Great American.
Harry Reid is a Morman, and is a Traitor & A Communist.
DON'T JUDGE PEOPLE BY THEIR RELIGION.
(Except Muslim Osama Obama. Go Hillary!)

im hearing more and more about him and really like what i hear. I feel he is a true conservative which is what is needed right now in this country. We need someone to say enough is enough and stop all of the degrading things which are happening in this country! I would vote for him and don't see anyone who has a chance to beat hime. Both hillary and obama are too far out to the left
