After getting into bed, closing my eyes - I start to dream to try to get myself to sleep. I do what I like in my dreams, I can shape them to what I want to be doing - playing music, dancing, robbing a bank... etc. Then in the morning I am in a dream again... and when I realise I am in a dream, I can open my eyes and I am awake. I feel like I can exhaust myself just by dreaming, because my mind must be awake for me to be able to dream. I am sure I must be asleep at least some of the night, I'm just not sure how much of it. I do generally need a lot of sleep and feel tired a lot after having only 9 hours "sleep".

It's called Lucid dreaming, why don't you like it?

Lucid dreaming (lucid from Latin, lux "light") is the conscious perception of one's state while dreaming, resulting in a much clearer experience and sometimes enabling direct control over the content of the dream, a realistic world that is to some degree in the control of the dreamer.[1] The complete experience from start to finish is called a lucid dream. Stephen LaBerge, a popular author and experimenter on the subject, has defined it as "dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming."[2]

LaBerge and his associates have called people who purposely explore the possibilities of lucid dreaming oneironauts (literally from the Greek ονειροναύτες, meaning "dream sailors").

The validity of lucid dreaming as a scientifically verified phenomenon is well-established.[3][4] Researchers such as Allan Hobson with his neurophysiological approach to dreaming have helped to push the understanding of lucid dreaming into a less speculative realm.

Its most prabably lucid dreaming, during the part of sleep known as rapid eye movement (REM) its is between deep sleep ann awake. People who get lucid dreaming can control there dreams somewhat. It should be a pleasant experience. If you're feeling tired after 9 hours sleep try sleeping more. I sometimes need 12hrs of sleep to feel recouperated. Some medications can cause these symptoms also, I was on beta blockers and they caused me to have more vivid dreams.

You have most likely been sleeping, You are not really dreaming when you are conscious, you are relaxing in your own world, escaping from reality, I do the same myself,

your dreams in the morning, are real dreams, most people remember these dreams, as they are between the land of nod and awake, it does have a technical name, but I don't remember it.

You are most likely tired in the mornings because you are not a morning person, it takes me ages to wake up, sometimes I am tired for half the day before I fully wake up. Have a Shower when you rise, it could help you wake up.
