goldeneye rogue agent is there alternate ending/s?

Question

on the first level (fort knox) is there anyway of defusing the bomb before it detonates. I was wondering this becuase, towards the end of the level when that room opens up, if peep round the corner you can see the bomb, but no oddjob! Also, why do you end up killing oddjob in the hoover dam mission.

oddjob comes throw a window and sets the bomb and kills two men on your side and ascapes throw the window again and i do not now why you can kill oddjob in hoover dam
