Darwin is tropical and has a wet season and a dry season. It is one of the places that youngsters seem to like when they go backpacking around the country so there are usually lots of young people around. Many Asian people stay there. I think at one time a very large proportion of residents were of Greek origin, but they are probably a much smaller part of society due to the rapid population growth.
There are a lot of good hotels and restaurants and it is a good place to stay when checking out the "top end".
