It has always been in my programs as default. Now I have all these other useless programs, but not what I need to use my webcam. I never downloaded a certain programs to use it; it was like Windows Media Player, it's always been there.

Okay , assuming that your computer was designed for Vista it should run fine with everything that it has, however, you don't mention the model number or the specifics, so in that instance i would suggest that you go to the HP web site then go to the download and updates, and enter your specific data on your laptop, find the new drivers and programs that have been designed to work with MS Vista and download and install them, then you may or may not have to reinstall your web cam program(s).

If your laptop came with an upgrade to Vista, then more than likely you still have support with HP on it. Suggestion: Use the HP support you have already paid for it when you bought your computer, see the paperwork that came with it.
