I am working on a thesis essay and need examples of ways people have been discriminated by either appearance (skin color, eye shape, warts, acne?), social class (wealthy/less wealthy), or on their education. Please only answer with examples from THIS CENTURY :]

Blonde hair: you may think its just a joke but there are many people who actually believe that all blondes are idiots.
African Americans: just because they are black i've seen people assume that they know how to rap and like hip-hop music
women: some men assume we arent as smart or strong as them

I read an article today in where an actual personality was being oppressed because their personality was different. He was considered a schizoid. He made a conscious decision that he liked being alone and was pretty much an introvert. However, seeing that extroverts were typically popular schizoids are usually poked fun of mocked to the point to where the person would be told that they need to go to a doctor to take pills. There are all forms of discriminations. Too many. Good luck. I just wanted to share another avenue of discrimination in which some people may not be aware of.

My best friend is a gay grrl. She has been shot, stabbed, beaten up several times, gotten thrown out of her parents house, gotten evicted from apartments, lost jobs all because she's gay.
Back when I was really into being punk I had a mohawk and lots of piercings and couldn't get a job or a place to live until I changed my outward appearance.
Discrimination is rampant in this world....

Dress up real sharp and go to a store with people that serve you, not a walmart but a Macy's or someplace like that. Observe the results. Then go back the next day really dressed down, way down. Observe the results.

when my husband was in high school and he was living in los angeles he and 3 of his friends drove out to Ventura an all white neighborhood 35 min. away. They was a shoe store selling some shoes that just came out for like 25% off. while they were in the store a korean lady who was working locked them inside the store and a short while later a police car drove up and she let the police in. my husband and his friends were standing with there money in their hands so the cops left, but that woman thought they were going to rob her.

this white guy always calls me a big lip beaast(im black) tells me to go back to africa. i know you guys are thinking"this girl is lying" but im very leniant and i tend not to let stupid things like that upset me, so he expresses his feelings about blacks to me instead of someone else black and then he says "oh im just kidding jalita"
not only that, i think people with fuller lips are thought of as more sexuall. ive been getting sexuall remarks about em fo quite a while. guys have said to me many times before i have DSL'S(D I CK SUCKIN LIPS)
ive been followed by security in the stores many times too
