Capital punishment is still prevalent in big democracies like the US and Japan and also in ardent Buddhist countries like Thailand and Vietnam. Why is it so hard to say NO to capital punishment?

It cost a fortune to kill em, cost a fortune to keep em alive. These are living, breathing people folks.
Point is ANYONE who commits a crime that we (as humans) judge as deserving of the death penalty is OBVIOUSLY mentally ill?? I mean really how can a sane person kill another person, How can someone molest a child UNLESS they are mentally ill?? Sounds like we're just taking the reality show exit and ending there lives rather than dealing with the problem. Seems rather archaic to me. AND NO I am not for or against the death penalty. I could never conceive it my place to decide. And I am certainly not making excuses for criminals... Just a thought of mine :-)

Bullets are getting very expensive! They are nearing $1.00 each in some calibers. Even higher! BUT, a bullet is cheaper than court appeals, and years of living in jail. Which they have rights too! I thought that when someone was found guilty of said crime, they had ALL privileges taken away. To some in jail, it is a better way of life.
Why is it hard to say NO to capitol punishment? ?Because the criminals deserve what they get! There should be an Express Lane in all states for death row!
What do you want to do, slap them on the hand, and say "now you know that is wrong don't you." As you open the door to set them free to do their nice deeds again to society.
OK so we do away with capitol punishment. How about if we set aside a area of territory, that is inescapable. No guards, no food, no nothing, just all the inmates. Like Australia was originally. That would be just fine to watch them control each other. And cost us nothing!

Yes, it's time for a change. It's time for more capital punishment. Let's say a criminal killed your sister while he was robbing her and got sentenced to life in prison. Not only is this worthless person going to live the next 60 years in jail, but your tax dollars are going to be keeping him alive.

Maybe that they don't like what they see in countries where the death penalty has been revoked.
I'm ambivalent about capital punishment..........I think that perhaps it may deter some of the horrific crimes against children and women that we have seen in Europe in the ast decade or so.

There is one thing that is very positive about capital punishment, the offender doesn't do it again. If we had more of it, maybe we would weed out the bad apples.

What better way to stop a serious offender than to end his or her life? What do you propose? My main issue with the death penalty here in the U.S. is that with all the appeals allowed, it often ends up costing taxpayers more to execute a prisoner than if s/he was kept in jail for life. THAT is what needs to change.

It's time for the child molesters, perverts & cold blooded murderers to change I think. It's not the death Penalty thats the problem!!!!!!!!!!! Till all the evil people who kidnap, hurt, rape and kill our children stop then the Death Penalty should stand.

Capital punishment controls the crime unless your society would be collapsed.
Otherwise, imagine sombody killed your brother/sister or wife ETC, would you like him walk alives and laughs to you?

Because we are a vengeful lot.If you ask me, the death penalty is too good for some crimes. I say torture 'em then make them live the rest of their miserable lives knowing they will never be free. I'm against the death penalty, however, for a number of reasons.

I would guess that you have never checked how much of a drain on society these murderers cost to keep alive.And how would you like it if we just let them back into the population and he would come to your house to repeat his crime on your family.You would be the first calling for his head !
