The anime's are the Getbackers, Inuyasha, Full Metal Panic and Fumofuu, Full Metal Alchemist, and Rurouni Kenshin.
The mangas are XXXholic, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, WJuliet, Ouran host club, boys over flowers, Bleach.

I just started watching a lot of anime this past year or so, but my favorites are Bleach and Eureka Seven. I don't read Mangas; I'm a college student so I read textbooks and not much else!

I think people in Western civilization like anime and manga because it combines social norms and common human emotion with exotic situatons and the foreign culture of Japan. The result is a unique, but universal concept of science fiction, fantasy, or everyday life that is entertaining, as well as relevant.
