You should know that depending on your school the cut off school for the specialized exam will usually be 530 and higher

If you know how to do higher level math problems and are good with logic then you should do fine on the test

Know what you are suppose to know in eight-ninth grade because when you take the test in eight grade it will be based on what the average students don't know

Before the test your school usually gives you a specialized exam handbook

Study this book well because if you are having trouble with the problems in the book then you really need to learn how to do them- the answers are in the back ,but you should not look at them until you are sure that you are stuck on the problem

If you are at the top of your class then the test should be easy for you

Ask if your school provides a specialized high school preparation course

Remember that you are competing with over 2000 students each year

Only about 20 or less get accepted to one of the specialized schools

To get into Bronx Science or Stuyvesant you must get a score above 550 usually but each school gets a different cut off score so aim to get at least a 560 and you will be accepted

Hope this helps

Whoa.. you really do want to go into this school... (I saw that you posted a few questions about the SHSAT)...

Umm... there isn't really something you can do... you just need to know what all 8th graders should know (or 9th graders which ever grade you are entering).
