it is a reference to being bisexual, and helped the band a lot ion it's early days, as many of their first gigs were at gay bars, but the band got the name from the side of a sewing machine.... they didn't know it was a bi reference until a cabbie told one of them...

the rock band ACDC is not referring to bi-sexuality but instead to Alternating Current / Direct Current that is used in sound systems to notifiy the electrical current running through it.

However, the word itself has started to be connoted with bi-sexuality.

Yes & no. It's slang for liking your bread buttered on both sides! Sex with the opposite sex & sex with your own: bisexual, shortened to "bi".

If you're interested it 's an electrical analogy. AC = alternating current; DC = direct current. Get it?
