There was such a long time when the black man could not stand up for himself and get openly angry over being called anything a white man wanted or treated however. There was slavery in America longer than there has been freedom for black people in America. Take to heart that you can't understand this issue unless you’re black. I say this is a word that the black man owns and the white may use it no more. When the white man says the N word, he has to check his volume and look over his shoulder. He knows his use of the word caries the wrath of a people fully justified after years of struggle to show some rage. I think another 200 years ought to be enough time for black people to calm down.

If we white people said oh hey black people you can't say cracker only we can say it and we can beat the hell out of you for saying it. Black people would be screaming racist! I honestly think that they like when a white person says the n word because it gives them a reason to lash out and whine. Grow Up black people everything is not always about you

It bugs me alot because of the fact they're merely asserting this is alright to declare the "n" notice on condition that your black, and that i merely think of this is ignorant and is an embarrasment to theirselves. i think of this is going to no longer be suggested in any respect because of the fact this is one hundred% ineffective and people have names at the instant. If a black guy or woman suggested the "N" notice a white guy or woman has the comparable suited to declare it too, yet why worry asserting it while this is ineffective. Celebrities think of they're "cool" asserting it, yet all they're is money-hungry.

For the ones who do, it's a trained pavlovian response.
Most White people don't use the word (at least not in public or mixed company, that is), and most Black people wouldn't react violently if they did because they realize you can't fight a stereotype by living up to it.

If a word is offensive to you, then you shouldn't use it. Things that I find offensive I stay away from. So if saying the "n word" is so bad, why is it so commonly used among the black community? If you want people to stop using it, you have to stop using as well. There is no such thing as a word that is only offensive if a certain person says it. It always will, or always will not be offensive.

I think because of the history having to do with slavery, that has a connection to this word. It's a way of saying you are worthless, and have less value as a human being.
I am guessing you are someone who has never experienced discrimination.

I cant answer that question however I would like to add to it. If the "N" word inflames our African American brothers and sisters then it would be my suggestion that they discontinue the practice of using it amongst themselves, Hollywood needs to be contacted as well. It seems to be socially acceptable among themselves and that is what I dont understand.
We are all Gods children, there doest need to be so much hate.

Who says? Black people DO NOT get angry when they hear the "N" word. Oh, that is unless the "N" word is uttered by a white or asian.
Get your facts straight.

It's very simple. If someone called you a "fag", you know that they are not referring to homosexuality in itself, but to the negative stereotypes that have been developed about homosexuality. That's why homosexuals refer to themselves as gay.
When people say the "N" word, they are not referring to black people, but to the insulting negative stereotypes about black people. I think everyone gets angry when they are deliberately and unjustly insulted.
I also disagree that anger gives the racists power. Racists have no power. It is an illusion that they have created for themselves. They will be insulting whether or not people become angry. It is their own ignorance that they use as a weapon, not the ignorance of those they insult. When people use a weapon against you, in an attempt to instill fear and shame, it is completely justified to defend oneself against them. Anger is a defense, and it can be applied to remove the illusion of power that these obnoxious individuals aspire to.

You have a very legitimate point there, and I for one agree with you. I don't use the word and I don't empower or validate those who do use it by letting it get to me. It's only a word, and I know that I'm bigger and better than that.
