On March 17th I did what any normal college student would do...I went to a huge party with a large amounts of alcohol. Unfortunatly my night went for the worst. I had sexual intercourse with a girl who claimed she was a senior in high school. After intercourse she went home and told her mother. The girl is only 15. I did NOT know this, and neither did anyone else. The police showed up and took me to jail. At the time I recieved an M.I.P, and possesion of marijuana, but no crimminal sexual conduct charges. Today however, I was released and one corrections officer told me that my charges had been dropped due to lack of evidence, and then another told me that my charges had been "suspended". I am very scared. I do not want to go to prison for Statitory Rape, the girl lied to me, but as of right now I do not know what is going to happen because of the suspended charges. Please help me, I'm so scared!

Go back to the corrections office and ask for paperwork or ask how to get paperwork telling you whether or not your charges are officially dropped or if they are suspended. If they are dropped it means you're in the clear. if they are suspended it means they are waiting for more info and will contact you later.
Do not give up on finding out either how you can get the paperwork or when it will be available.
Right now this is all you can do is stay in the know about what is going on with your case.
Your situation sucks, but it is a consequence of your actions and you must now take responsibilty for them including following your own case information until it is resolved.
Good Luck.

You should find out if the charges were 'dropped' of 'suspended.' Suspended basically means: We are not pressing charges TODAY. They may still press charges later. Her lying about her age is not a defense. If she showed a false ID that said she was 25, it would not be a defense. The ONLY defense to statutory rape is, "it never happened."

" Suspended Charges" mean that they can bring the charges against you at a later date, they need to find more evidence. I hope that you also take this as a growing experience and get to know a girl before you sleep with her so that things like this don't happen again.
