I think an important thing to remember is that it can seem like a LOT your first time. When I first got my period, I was shocked over how gross it seemed and how much I bled. But then after the initial surprise wore off, I learned that my period is longer and much heavier than most other girls' and it just becomes normal after a while. In terms of "how much," I know people say like 1/2 a cup or so, but it's hard to visualize that on a pad or something. I mean, definitely expect more than just a few little drops, but the only way I'd worry if I were you would be if you had to change your pad/tampon every hour or something.

But, if your mom is around, you should probably talk to her, even if it can be embarrassing (it was for me!), or at least find an older girl around and ask her for her help. Don't worry -- every girl goes through it and we all know how much it sucks, so they'll help you if you ask. :)

Amount can vary from person to person. Put on a thick pad and it should be fine for 4 - 6 hours. Somehow with blood a little can look like a lot more than it really is. It should also taper off in a day til gradually over in anywhere from 3 - 7 days.

Every girl is different from each other. There's no such thing as the right amount of blood. Some girls have a three day period -- I wish i was one of those!!!! - others have it for a week. Some have a very little amount of blood, others have a large one. Some have severe pain, others don't. You have nothing to be worried about. As you are just beginning, your body will take some months to become regular, so don't be scared if next month everything will be different. But, if it makes you feel better, talk to your mother or see a doctor. Just don't compare yourself with your friends because your are all different.

Everybody is different. My periods have always been on the light side and only lasts 3-4 days, 10 tampons does me good. But my daughter however, hers last from 5-7 days, heavy for 3-4, and needs a whole box, sometimes box and a half. We are all different. Only the doctor can see if there is something abnormal. Talk to your mom.

first, calm down.. its ok. every woman has a different period, some bleed very little, some a ton. some can go through a "super plus" tampon every 3 hours (or even less) and some could use a "regular" all day (don't do that tho.. you risk getting toxic shock syndrome.. which my friend's aunt died of, yes its very serious)
my advice would be to talk to your mom, or a woman that you are comfortable talking about this with.

Alot is fine, a little is fine. Everyone is different. You need to have a conversation with a woman, not with a forum of strangers online. If you don't have a mother/sister/aunt/friend you can ask, call a gyno office and request a female doctor or nurse who can discuss this with you. It's nothing to be scared of, but you need to know how to take care of yourself.

(Welcome to womanhood, by the way!)

When you first start your period it could be a little scary but take a deep breath and chillax. As days go by its going to start lighting up.Just make sure you have pads, panny inliners, and femine spray so people won't smell you cause sometimes it has an oder.

i started 2 months ago, and dont worry. whoever said it was a little kinda lied. you get half a cup of blood and if you just started, pads are better. tampons you should wait for!

congrats!

dont worry all women are diffrent. I bleed very little but it's because im on the pill. take hot baths and keep yourself clean and it to will pass. if you are just a woman that is a heavy bleeder check into the pill for flow control. good luck
