keep your lights on in the room with the food or get a new door with a laser entrance, you put a key on the cat's collar and it opens when your cat comes in

Raccoons are really smart. This one has figured this out, so it will keep doing it. Are you worried that it might get in a fight with your cat?
As for the food issue, really the only thing you can do is change the size of the cat door or put the food somewhere that your cat can reach but that the racoon can't. For example, put the food up on a counter or a shelf that you cat can easily jump up on. Maybe after a few days, the racoon will be discouraged.
The other thing you can do is catch the raccoon in a trap and release it somewhere far away.

There are cat doors that respond only to your cat's collar. (It uses magnets). It won't open from someone just trying to push it open. This is an option.
If you don't have a way to lock the cat door, or close it when your cat isn't using it, then you aren't going to have a good solution for the raccoon. Putting out traps, etc will only get your cat as well, and raccoons are very clever at getting into things if there is a way.

Here's what I had to do! Locked the cat door at night. Made a platform for the cat and left a garage window slightly open. Showed the cat the change. After about a week, the problem was self eliminated. Hasn't happened again (knock on wood) in nearly 2 years. Just please don't do anything harmful. As a result of her efforts to eliminate a rodent problem, I knew a woman who poisoned her dog via a dead mouse he found. I believe (except for sex, drugs, and Rock'nRoll) less is almost always best! Best of luck. I have a raccoon now that steals the bird seed from my bulk container on my back patio. I enjoy it through the glass, while he is in my yard in the china berries. Not in my dining room, in my china cabinet! Am I right?

Put a humane trap next to the pet door with some cat food in it. Once you catch the raccoon call animal control to come and get it or take it to the country and let it go. Be careful not to get bitten or scratched by it because they can carry rabies.

Close up the cat door but if you have a cat that goes through it then you could make a hole somewhere else or just let your cat out by yourself.

Best thing to do is get someone to capture it, and take it to another area away from your home. I have had racoons for pets before, and once they figure something out, they don't forget. You might want to invest in a "locking" kitty door.
They have special collars that when the cat/dog approaches the door, it unlocks for that one animal, and then locks itself back in place when it closes.
