in my dream, I was at a local high school, for a school function... a play or something. I was sitting there watching it when this guy from my class came up and told me that this guy I'm obsessed with wanted to go out with me, and if I would accept if he asked me out. of course I said yes, but in the end he changed his mind. what does this signify?

1st: no matter what crazy crap ppl say here, they dont know what your dream means.
2nd: dreams dont have 'meaning' per sae, they are not fully understood (by anyone)
3rd: most scientists believe that dreams are a form of working out problems or unwinding for the sub concious, which is likey just what that is, nothing more.

I think it reflects emotional distress and conflict perhaps over the dating scene.
You seem to start with a wish which is that a guy you like is interested in you.
Then you seem to fear that if you show interest in him, he will reject you.
I'm not sure that there is much more than this. There could be an overall pattern of if you show an interest in anything or anyone it could be a scary risk because the other person will not be interested in you. You could fear that a club could reject you or if you try out for something or apply to a school, you could get rejected.

What you dream is deep in the sub conscious mind. Maybe if he was on your mind recently, that's why you had a dream about him. It happens to me sometimes.
