I am a sophmore trying to figure out what I want to do with my schedule for the next two years. I am in our school's pre-IB program (you can take AP or IB). I want to be a high school science teacher or a psychologist for kids with learning disablities. I am ADHD (which is deff not an excuse but it is something to pay attention to).

Basicly, I really want to take the Chemistry IB and Physics IB, but the way our school has the schedule set up, if you do chemisty you must do English and History. English is my weakest class. Plus exams aren't my thing, I would have had an A in english 3, but I failed the exam and got a B. So write no I am taking the IB certificate. I have Physics, Chem, Eng, and HIstory. And my other classes are Pre Cal hand-ons on history (physcology or spanish 4 if I can't get the hist). Some people are saying I should just go ahead and do the full IB, adding the spanish 4 and 5 IB and Math Studies to my schedule. Do you agree with that? Should I just do AP & honors?

If I do just AP, I can still take IB physics, but phsysics is the same block as AP Eng, so I would have to take honors Eng. AP US history is also avaliable. As far as other sciences, I could take Antamony/Phis. (not ap or honors, but its still not easy). I can also take AP Calculus.

I guess the main thing holding me back from doing the whole IB is Spanish. I made something like a 89 in spanish 1 and a 84 in Spanish 2 (which is a C), but I would have had an B if it weren't for my exams. Oh, and I do spend tons of time studying for exams. I think its just that I want a life. And right now I spend tons of time studying and have like a 90 grade average (with the honors wieght). I love to spend time with my friends and I am on the swim team. I mean I love learning, but I don't want to get burnt out.

Plus, our school offers great electives that I would love to take that aren't necessary the easy classes.

Ugh I never thought high school scheduling would be hard. lol thanks for your help

If you have ADHD and it is a diagnosed disability you may qualify for a 504 plan. This plan would allow you to have your scheduling to meet your needs. I would take the AP to get out of school and in college you will be able to be more selective.

I would pick AP just beacuse if you take the exams, you get college credit. IB doesn't offer that option.
