human somatic cells have 23 pairs but sex cells have only 23 chromosomes

30 pairs (60 total) in cow cells, 23 pairs (46 total) in human cells. This is only for body cells, though, not sex cells.
Cows have 30 chromosomes total in their sex cells (gametes) and humans have 23 total chromosomes in their sex cells.
