Rabbits
Given proper motivation, both domestic and wild rabbits can swim. Domestic rabbits are sometimes trained to swim as a circus attraction. A wild rabbit is known to have attacked even an United States President via swimming on at least one occasion, when the animal was threatened in its natural habitat. [11]

Rabbits hate getting wet! When was the last time that you saw them in the fields on a rainy day? They will go to any lengths to keep dry. They can swim short distances but only if they really have to.

Yes. Rabbits can swim. But they really *really* don't like to and their not very good swimmers.

Hi Matts.......
Well, my neices rabbit, called Buscuit was apparantly lobbed into the paddling pool last summer, and was far from happy.
I fetched the drenched critter out, gave it a rub, and all was OK. It recovered from the experience.

I get the feeling that rabbits are not too keen in the water !
Not natural !

No, what happens is that they turn over and float belly up and go into a trance. It is a defense thing that if they get turned over by an attacker, they go into a trance and do not move (try it!!) the same thing happens if they are in water as they seem to float belly up. They then go into the trance and their heads dip under the surface of the water and they drown (if you don't save them). Don't ask me how I know that!
