Sorry, the previous answerers are wrong. By the time a person gets to be a resident, they have finished medical school, and they do get paid. It's entry level medical work, but residents are doctors.

A doctor resident, correct? Yes! They are typically residents for 4 years doing what they'd do if they were an all-out doctor. They work like 80+ hour work weeks and get paid between $40K - 60K.

Yes, Intern and residents get paid, medical students don't. Remember Interns are first year residents
Physician Graduate Year 1
PGY 1 = Interns (first year resident)
PGY2 = Resident (second year resident)
PGY3 = Resident (third year resident)

You get a low living allowance. That is why many marry so that she (usually she) will give him a better standard of living while he is a resident, and then later when he is well settled in his practice he can divorce the faithful first wife and marry a younger - better looking woman. Ain't that the truth.

Yes resident doctors get paid, but pennies compared to what they will be making when they certified in their specialty.

ok, indexed right here are your strategies guy. a million. in case you ignore approximately them, they are going to deliver it to collections and collections will screw up your credit. At that element ignore getting a private loan or something of the style. that's your worst option. 2. you could verify some sources you could liquidate on the instant( better vehicle, boat, motor cycle, something you could sell) and attempt to speak to the billing branch of the financial corporation. What you could inform them is this, you have little money and what you have you will supply them in the event that they are going to launch you from the debt. So say your invoice is around 3,000 which im beneficial is in the ball park. sell something and get 2,2 hundred or so and bypass to the scientific institution and tell them its all you have and you will supply them this to settle. fairly some the time they are going to to stay away from being stiffed. in case you're able to try this verify you get all of this in writing asserting they launch you in complete. 3. Pay something to the scientific institution, 10 greenbacks a month, 20, in spite of you could cope with to pay for. this would verify you dont bypass into collections by way of fact they do no longer look to be think to deliver it to collections except you havent paid in a definite form of days. %. up one extra activity, mow your acquaintances grass, or in spite of you're able to do for some extra money. stay away from this going to collections by way of fact they won't be as effortless to handle yet you won't be in a position to stay away from this.

Yes, but pay is minimal as (historically) it is assumed young doctors have no little to no needs outside of the hospital.
