I believe the game is, but I don't believe the guitar is. I don't think you can plug the guitar into the PS3 unless there's an adapter for it.

I've heard that 99% of the games for the PS2 are compatable with the PS3. Guitar Hero has a good reason to make up that 1% so it probably does. Then again, they say there will be a Guitar Hero game for the PS3. When they made Guitar Hero 2, they didn't change the controller...so they probably won't for Hero 3 which means Hero 2 is probably compatable with the PS3.
