It isn't a good idea. Cheap guitars aren't cheap only because they have lousy hardware... it is everything from the grade of materials to the accuracy of the fingerboard to the quality of workmanship, and no amount of upgrading will correct it.

Instead, save your money and get a good one to begin with.
