There should be some disks that came with the computer to reinstall everything and make it like new again. You need to boot the computer with the first disk in and follow the instructions...... If you dont have the reinstall disks, your only other option is to buy windows xp and install that......

If it's a Dell machine, the re-install discs should have come with the PC. If not, you can contact Dell, and they will send you the discs for free. You then need to get the disc labelled "Operating System", and put it in the computer. Turn on the computer and boot from the CD-ROM (on most Dell machines this is accessed by pressing F12 at startup, alternatively enter the BIOS by pressing DEL at startup and changing the boot device to the CD drive). Windows setup will start. Once it has loaded, you need to delete the Windows partition (make sure you backed up all your files first - once you delete the partition there's no going back) then select "Unpartitioned Space" and press Enter. Windows will create a partition. Format is using "NFTS (Quick)" and then let Windows install on its own. It might ask questions about language etc after a while, just answer them as well as you can. After the install you need the disc labelled "Dell Resource CD". Once Windows has installed, install the Resource CD and run all the drivers which have a tick next to them on the Driver list. After that, reboot, and your system should run as normal. You might need to change the display resolution, but if it's a laptop it should do that automatically.
This advice is based on my experience of Dell PCs, but it might not apply to yours as you don't specify model, OS, etc. Just don't reinstall your operating system if you're not sure you absoulutely need to.
