GE, Panasonic, or Sharp which would you recommend. Which one make the quietest one, which one last the longest?

It doesn't matter what brand you buy anymore, they're likely made by the same manufacturer. I would shop by- features, price, warranty.

Anymore window A/C's are what we call "throwaways". You can get them so cheap at Wal Mart or such that you use them until they break, and then go and buy a new one, especially in the smaller sizes. Window units used to be nice to work on, but anymore, parts are hard to come by, and by the time you try to buy parts, and new unit is cheaper! Hope this helps! Good luck!

For a real unbiased answer you may need to visit www.consumerreports.com. Most people here would have only owned one brand or another, not really able to offer the direct comparison you're looking for. (Unless they work in an appliance store!)
