try to d/l Nero from torrentz.com or Roxio. Also, depending on your cpu you will need DVD+. Or for a short peroid of time you can use the trail version of Nero.

I've not tried it myself but i think microsoft's movie maker would proberly do it, and you already have it on your computer unless it doesn't run windows but im asuming it does, just go start search all files and folders then search for 'movie maker' it should come up in the results open the application then once you open it click import video files, look for and find the file and open it, then take it from the top and put it on the timeline at the bottom, after this save it, then 'save movie file' as you go though the wizard it should give you the option to save the AVI file to the DVD.

You just burn it on a dvd and play it only if your dvd player that recognized the file. Never tried it but saw someone did that.
