It's like beating a dead horse. He wants to play, he doesn't want to play............The entire situation is wearing thin with even the most loyal fans.
I'm not really sure what he wants. It can't be the money. He has more money than he can spend in 50 life times. It may have to do with the fact that he can't let go of the game. His mind tells him he can do it but his body is telling him something else. It could also have to do with his ego. Once he retires he will, for the most part, be out of the limelight.
The down side to him continually coming back is that the Hall of Fame clock get delayed by one season each time he does it. He has nothing to prove. He certainly is no longer in his prime. And all he will do from this point on is tarnish his legacy. Time to walk away and start preparing that induction speech for Cooperstown.

Personally I've been tired of the Roger Clemens self promotion tour the last 3 years but at the same time you have to admire what he has accomplished during that time. Imagine going to your potential boss and telling him you will only help him half the year but expect to be the highest paid member of his "team". Clemens has the advantage of being a money pitcher (playoff producer) and can wait out the early part of the season to see which team he may want to play for. Suppose he signs right away with the Yankees and Jeter tears an ACL and Rivera has more elbow problems. Or he inks a deal with the Red Sox only to watch the pen implode again and Big Papi to get hurt. There goes the playoff run....so instead of gambling early on a team he can see how each team gets out of the gate and who looks like the best contender to go to the W.S.. Annoying as hell for us to listen to the Clemens watch for 3 months but who can blame him, after all money isnt an issue for him, winning rings is!

He does what he does because he can.
The teams will line up if he declares that he is playing. The Yankees have already asked Cano top give up #22 to give back to Roger if he comes back. They're setting the stage. It's a major distraction to all of baseball. I wish he would have taken his matching Hummers and ridden into the sunset when he first retired as a Yank. I too have lost all respect for Roger.

I like your Icon better Go New York. As Far as the fading Rocket goes, he does this because it is the only way that he can draw more attention to a once historic career that is quickly fading. He is trying to get as many season in as he can in two more years he won't wont commit until July. By doing he is hoping to still be pitching in 3025. They will wheel him out in a wheel chair here will pitch 6 solid innings and get a no decision with 2.79 era.

i agree, roger should make his mind. it takes forever for him to make his freakin choice. he is asking for to much money as well. if he comes to new york ( which is why cano changed his number to 24) that would be great, but he is not worth 5 million $ a month, where he will probobly make his choice in august like he did last year , for him to get maybe at best 10 starts and the yankees pay 10 million dollars, i dont think so

The question is why would you want him now? He has proven the last few years that he cannot get it done in the big game when it counts. He is not the same pitcher he was ten years ago. Money is no object, but I think having him come in mid-season ruins team chemistry.

I am sick of Roger and his DIVA attitude he needs to retire (for good!) or get to spring training and be a baseball player!
He's becoming the Brett Favre of MLB.

For sure! The whole payment structure accomodates this type of thing and many more will join the bandwagon until it's fixed.

he has always cared about one person- himself. It will never change. He's waiting to see how the Red Sox get out of the gate. If they get a lead (which I doubt), he'll go to Boston to "restore" his legacy with the sox fans.
