One stormy afternoon as I was leaving work for lunch, I saw the cutest little Manchester Terrier sadly roaming around in the parking lot outside my work. So, I loaded the little doggy up and took her home with me during my lunch break. I called the phone number for the vet listed on the tag on her collar. When I reached the vet, I asked for the name of the dog and a phone number or address for the owner who had taken the dog to be vaccinated. I learned that the sweet baby's name was Peanut and got both address and phone number the owner had given at the time of the pet's last vaccination. I called the phone number that I was given but it was disconnected. So, I went to the residence at the address that the vet gave me. There was nobody home. So, I just went ahead and kept the dog in my house while I went back to work thinking that I would probably just keep her. Upon returning home, it was quite apparent that the little dog was accustomed to being inside as she had just made herself right at home in my recliner. However, I could see that she was so depressed and upset to be separated from her owner. So, I continued my search to find the owner. I went back to the house where the owner had lived. The woman who answered the door said she had not lost a dog, had only lived at this residence for a short time, and knew nothing about the previous occupants. So, I went to the store and bought Peanut some special food, treats, toys, and her very own blanket. Night passed and another day of work passed. At first I was selfishly happy that I had not succeeded in finding Peanut's owner but my joy was soon replaced with sadness and determination to find her owner because she just continued to cry for her owner. I thought about it for a long time...trying to think where she would have come from. There is a fairly deep canyon between my work parking lot and the nearest residential area and I couldn't think that this little gal would have been able to trek through the canyon. I continued to think about where she could have strayed from, then I remembered that there were some men that had been working on building a new house just on the edge of the canyon where it was not very deep. So, I went to the new house and asked one of the workers if anyone there had lost a dog or heard of anyone losing a dog in the area. The man said that one of his co-workers had lost his little dog the day before when the storm had blown in. The dog had gotten scared and walked down into the canyon and got lost. The man quickly took me to Peanut's owner and I explained that I had taken her in to protect her from the storm and from getting run over and explained how I had tried to locate him immediately with no luck so I had gone ahead and bought her special food, toys, and a blanket and thought I would just keep her. But I quickly decided to continue my search for her owner when I saw how depressed she was. He was quite obviously ecstatic that I had located Peanut. He said that she was his life and his only family. He explained how he had divorced about a year before and his adult children had turned on him and he had no friends, no home, nothing but his little dog, a camper, and a junky old pickup. He said that when Peanut had disappeared the day before that he had nearly lost the will to survive because she was his everything. I could clearly see that the little dog felt the same way about him. I told him Peanut loved him just as much as he loved her and I knew this because of her sad cries for him since I had rescued her. Peanut and her owner were happily reunited and they were both so rejoiceful I can't even begin to explain it. The man said he did not have much but he would offer me anything he had as a reward and thank you for returning his little Peanut to him. I told him that I did not want anything from him...seeing their joyful reunion was reward enough for me. I knew I had done the right thing.

Long story short, a little black kitten had his tail fall off from someone putting a rubber band on it right in front of my eyes so I took the little guy to the vet and had his tail fixed and a few other things fixed too. Best money I have ever spent on a stray, he now lives w/my son.

A dog got hit by the car in front of me, who then sped off. So I stopped my car in the middle of the street, picked up the dog (who was all bloody) took her home and washed her up, bandaged her wounds and cleaned then, took her for a check up at the vet, got her groomed, and fed up until she was better...then I got her adopted by the adopt a pet program at Petco and she has a nice happy home.

Let my pugs get a taste of everything we eat. They deserve to know what everything tastes like. The kindest thing is one of them is a rescue dog. My daughter gets the credit for her though, I guess. Many people have told me they want to "come back" as one of my dogs and I've heard that all my life.

I'm an animal lover. At work, these very stupid women sprayed a poor baby bird with wasp killer. He was soaked in it. I took him outside and washed him off well. I don't know if he made it. I hope he did.

During a recent cold spell, one of my neighbors left their cat out. I let it in for the night, then set it loose the next day. It still comes clawing at my door, for some reason...
