I'm just curious to know if anyone has any theories why expressions like "dis", "24/7", and "chill out" have caught on with Whites while expressions like "word bond" [short for "My word is my bond"] have not.

Because some expressions are just too corny to utter.

I didn't know 24/7 was a black expression lol but I can say for the most part that I do not talk using very many expressions especially if they are associated to belonging to any particular racial group. I don't want to sound stupid....and I have never heard of "word bond"...I haven't heard of most of the ones out there. I don't try to keep up...too many people have a hard enough time speaking regular English let alone using expressions...

Simple. Because they like the expressions that they adopt, while they dislike or are indifferent to those they don't adopt. I hope that helps!
